Restaurant reviews continued. . .

You all know I am a huge sushi fan, but nothing yet. I tried one place that was recommended on a restaurant website called www.metromag.com. The recommended Origami Sushi at Ridgedale mall. There were not a lot of choices for different rolls, a decent selection of sushi and sashimi, and everything was very expensive. I was there at happy hour and still paid $11.50 for a beer and sake. That is pretty ridiculous. I tried a sushi combo and it was pretty good grade sushi, but not for the price in my book. Even edamame was like $6.00 or something. HUH?!?!

I will keep trying. I ate Thai food on St. Patrick's Day so maybe I need to find some good corned beef and cabbage to make up for my indiscretion! I will keep you all informed as to what I find!

Mimosa Sunday-- now I am okay!

I found brunch and mimosas today. And the best part. . . the mimosas were $.99 each so it was kind of like heaven! :)

I had a few and then ran a couple errands. I love shopping after cocktails!! It makes me buy things I will never use or need. Makes for a great day!!

Pita and I are supposed to go to Calhoun Park and walk but I am kind of tired. I need a nap. Maybe another day!!

Now I am sitting on the couch relaxing and typing. Perfect Sunday. Pita is curled at my feet- who could ask for anything more?
I have been sick so I have been slacking on the posts. I apologize. I am ready now!!

So, I have enjoyed a few places for dinner, seen a few sights, and met some interesting characters already.

Here are the highlights:

Il Gatto- restaurant in Uptown. It is overpriced Italian that is not very good. I was not impressed. My friend had the seafood cannelloni and I had cavatappi- chicken, sundried tomatoes, chilies and olive oil. They did not mention the ton of olives that would be in there too!! It was gross. Did I mention I am not a fan of olives?

Chiang Mai Thai- good Thai food! I had their curry and it was great! The green curry my friend had was very hot but she enjoyed it. This was my favorite Minneapolis place so far but that is not saying much since every other place has been subpar.

Friday night we went to a Junior League event at OM. I did not eat but the vodka/sodas were flowing freely! This place was really cool. It has a nice lay out. I did meet a few guys, most of whom were VERY Minnesota. They are looking for a wife and kids STAT! I think there is a biological clock on the men here too. I do not fit their mold though so I am safe. I did get to meet OG-- the original gangster. He is an Indian guy who is hilarious. His name starts with G so that is what he wrote on his name badge. I renamed him OG since I liked that better.

By the way-- do you Skype? If not, you should. This has been a fabulous way to keep up with everything going on at home!!

Week In Review. . . and a stolen wallet

So. . . I have been here for exactly a week and have quite a few stories already. Tuesday night we had a work happy hour at Cooper's. It is a really fun place and has some good food. We tried the spinach artichoke dip and a few other appetizers. And of course, some Blue Moon beers!!

Thursday night, Pita and I went to the Dog Day at the Dome. They invite dogs and their owners to wander off leash in the MetroDome. It is a fun time for the dogs who have been cooped up for the winter. Pita has not really been cooped up-- but we went anyhow. She had a blast running around. I guess thay are not having another Dog Day until December. That stinks since the dogs have a great time!

Oh, did I mention that the Boxer Boy down the hall has a girlfriend. Darn!! But he is still fun to look at and his dog and Pita like meeting outside every once in a while.

Skip to Friday-- it is time for a drink. A friend of mine and I went to the Herkimer Pub & Brewery in Uptown. Great atmosphere but why is every guy in Minneapolis gay? Don't get me wrong-- I have no problems with anyone being gay, I just would like to have a few guys that I might have a chance with!! This is too much work!! But the Herkimer was great. The beer was cold and strong, which was needed on a Friday night, and the food was great. We shared a vegetarian appetizer called the Oasis. It includes Black Bean Falafel patty's, hummus, sweet potato dip & wheatberry tabouli. Good stuff!! We also shared the vegetable macaroni and cheese. I cannot eat meat on Friday during Lent-- I will definitely have my fair share other days though! All in all it was a great place for food and people watching.

We decided to move across the street and have another drink. The Lyndale has a great bar and a cool set up. They even have Pabst Blue Ribbon cans, but for $3.50, it's still PBR?!?!? I had a vodka soda and was enjoying it. Then I was approached by a fire breathing dragon!! Do I need to explain that this means a guy with bad breath. I chatted with him a bit, but tried to move away quickly!! :)

We stayed for a bit longer visiting with a couple other people that my friend knew, and then decided to call it a night, since we both needed to drive. As we got up to go, I noticed my wallet was missing!!! Yes, the wallet was stolen from my purse as we sat right there. I was so mad!!!

So-- whoever you are who steals wallets from unsuspecting happy Friday drinkers-- you're a meanie!! AND. . . Ha! Ha! You didn't get anything since I called my credit cards right away-- so THERE!!

Anyhow, today I spent trying to order new EVERYTHING and find a new wallet, which I still have not done. It is really annoying!!

All in all, a fabulous week in the Twin Cities! The clouds are rolling in though, and we are supposed to be getting some snow. I hope I am ready for the tundra!!

First Day at Work. . . and the neighbor with the boxer.

So I started work today- good times.

More importantly, Pita has been barking everytime this boxer went outside to pee-- the door is right beside our front door so she hears them go out. Have noticed how pretty she is, but did not see the owner. . . until last night! I stepped outside to throw away the trash and they were coming in. Yes, this was strategic timing on my part!! :)

He is very cute. The boxer came right up to me so I said hello. Boxer's owner said hi too but I could not tell if he had a ring on. Although, that means nothing anymore.

But we'll see. . . could be a new friend-- for Pita I mean!
